5 TIPS TO ADD COLOR TO ANY ROOM!

It's no secret that when you enter my home, an array of colors will immediately welcome you. Almost every room in my home has it's own color scheme. Don't get me wrong, I love neutral, calm palettes (in other homes) but in my home, I absolutely LOVE pops of color! In my living room, there's a lot of pink and purple decor. In the kitchen, the main pop of color is aqua/turquoise. There is something about a daring color palette that instantly makes me happy which makes me want to spend more time in each room. The following 5 decor tips will help instantly transform your space!

1. Flowers
This is a special touch and extremely easy to add. Mother nature always seems to change the feeling of any room. You can choose to add bright colored roses, tulips or any other flower. The possibilities are endless with this option. Don't be afraid to go FAUX either! I literally have faux pink flowers that I move from room to room because I cannot get enough of them! They're absolutely beautiful and necessary (well, to me!)

2. Throw Pillows
Who doesn't love them?! I bet we can all agree that we have more throw pillows in our rooms than we actually need. Mix it up with different patterns, colors and textures. This definitely is not one of those "less is more" type of things. The MORE throw pillows, the HAPPIER you will be with the look of your space. Think about using different shapes and sizes as well to create a fun and playful look.

3. Accessories
This is super important! I will admit that I go to the store (often Marshall's... who am I kidding, it's ALWAYS Marshall's!) at least twice a week to purchase accessories for my home. I love anything aesthetically pleasing. You can add pretty vases, funky lamps, decorative frames, globes, table trays, monogram letters and candlesticks. A little secret of mines, I love to buy candles that come in different colored jars (thank you DW HOME!) I place them everywhere. This is a simple touch and let's be honest, who can really live without candles?!

4. Prints
These are a fun way to add character to your space. I enjoy adding prints with cute phrases and vibrant photos. I received a huge canvas with the Eiffel Tower painted on it as a gift and it is the staple of my living room. If you are a fan of DIY, you can also create and frame your own prints.

5. Painted Furniture
This is easily becoming one of my favorites! Whether big or small, a bold painted piece of furniture can dramatically change the look of your space. When it comes to color, just think of the phrase "Go Big or Go Home!" Using bright colors on furniture will make your room pop!

Be BRAVE, step out of the box and thank me later!

DIY VINTAGE CHANDELIER!

One of the first things you notice when you walk into my kitchen is my beautiful chandelier! It is literally one of my favorite items in the entire house! I've always wanted a chandelier (actually, I have always wished my house was decked out in them!) but I did not want to spend a ton of money on one. It took me months but I was able to find the perfect one on Craigslist for only $20!

I could not pass it up! I loved the shape of it, so vintage! I just could not deal with the brass. So I decided to paint it a lovely aqua color to match the pops of color in my kitchen. I used Peacock Blue Enamel Spray Paint by Valspar that I purchased at Lowe's Home Improvement store for only a few bucks.

I cleaned the chandelier with soap and water, then let it air dry outside. Once it was dry, I sprayed my first layer of spray paint with even strokes. It's important to get in all the little nooks (or else the brass will show and you don't want that).

Let the first layer dry then spray paint another layer. Depending on how rich you want the color, you can add another layer of spray paint if you'd like.

Once it has completely dried, all that is left to do is install it and admire it's beauty!

WELCOME!

Welcome to my official blog! I received so much support to create a blog that I finally decided to stop being scared and just create one! LoveDIYhome started on Instagram as I wanted to share my photos with everyone who was just as obsessed with home decor as I was. I quickly realized there were a lot of people interested in my interior style and the things I love the most. I created this blog for everyone to keep up with my current obsessions and hopefully inspire some of your own!
